'Bluestar's Prophecy' will give fans of Erin Hunter's warriors series insight into the cat who lead Thunder Clan when the warrior cat series started with 'Into the Wild'.

Bluestar's Prophecy is the backstory to the first book of the Erin Hunter's Warrior's Series, Into the Wild. People who have not finished the series yet don't have to wait to read it. Even those who have only read Into the Wild will have enough information to understand it. The story begins when Bluestar, (the leader of Thunder Clan in Into the Wild,) is born. It is the story of Bluestar's early life, up until the time readers meet her in Into the Wild.

Bluestar's Prophecy Starts off Slow

Unlike Erin Hunter's other warrior cats books, Bluestar's Prophecy starts off surprisingly slow. There is not much tension or conflict at all in the first one-third of the book. But fans of the warrior cats will be interested enough to keep reading.

Readers will not recognize the names of most cats in Thunder Clan when Bluestar's Prophecy begins. With the exception of a very few cats, most of the characters will have died by the time the story of Into the Wild takes place.

Despite it's slow beginning it is a must-read because it gives the reader a new perspective on the very roots of the warrior cats series. Further along, the book becomes a page-turner, just like the rest of the Warriors series and, as usual with Erin Hunter's books, readers will not want the story to end.

The Evolution of Thunder Clan

Thunder Clan itself has evolved a great deal since the time Bluestar was a kit. Readers may not recognize the Thunder Clan that is portrayed in Bluestar's Prophecy, and they will come to understand how and why Thunder Clan came to value mercy and tolerance the way that it now does.

Bluestar's Life

As the reader comes to know the events that unfold in Bluestar's life, it becomes clear why things happen the way they do in the first series of Warrior books. The decisions she makes as Thunder Clan leader, the way she become despondent for a time, and the way that she ultimately dies are all put into perspective.

Unanswered Questions in Bluestar's Prophecy

Bluestar's Prophecy leaves some questions unanswered and leaves readers wondering. For example, could the medicine cat, Goosefeather, be trusted or not? Even in real life, faith is a matter of, well, faith. The question about the medicine cat is authentic, but unanswerable. And what of Pinestar's strange decision to leave Thunder Clan? The book leaves room for more backstories.

The Warriors series is excellent reading for teenagers and children. They are full length novels rated for grade five and up, though children as young as grade three or four enjoy these books, as do teenagers well into their junior year of highschool (and adults).

The book is Warriors Super Edition: Bluestar's Prophecy published July 28, 2009 by Harper Collins, by Erin Hunter and Wayne Mcloughlin. It is available in hardcover and a Kindle edition. ISBN: 978-0-06-158247-9.
